     Hello!  My name is Amanda Myers.  I am a first year teacher, and a recent graduate from William Jewell College.  I graduated with a bachelor's in elementary education with a minor in history.  I am certified to teach grades first through sixth.

Grading Policy
All individual work we do in class in every unit is practice for the unit tests we take in class. Unit tests are the source of the main grades given on the report cards.  Each unit test will cover the GLE's (Grade Level Expectations) that are found on report cards thats students work on achieving throughout the unit. 
During the course of one unit. students will participate in summative assessments made to monitor their progress as the unit progresses, to make sure students are on track.  Students will participate in assessments such as group reports, research, completing graphic organizers, etc.
As well, students will be assigned homework EVERY NIGHT that will be either a review of past mastered skills, or that will pertain to what we are currently working on in class.  The only assignment given on the weekends will be to have a parent or guardian sign the weekly report, which will inform you of what exactly we covered throughout the week, and on your child's behavior.
ABSENCES
If your child is absent, he or she is responsible for completing all makeup work at home, plus the work covered in class the days missed.  This work can be found in their mailbox waiting for them when they return to the classroom!  If you would rather your child complete this work during recess time with my assistance, feel free to call or write me an email and we can set that up.
Makeup work is important to complete so your child can catch up on what he/she missed!
