Welcome to Reading First!!!

Reading First is a national initiative to provide early intervention to assure that all children are reading at or above grade level by the end of third grade.

Our district has a three year grant to assist our teachers and students in achieving this goal. Grant funds are used for classroom materials, professional development and the assistance of a reading coach to collaboratively work with students and teachers.

I am the Reading First Coach at Santa Fe Elementary.

About Me:

I have 35 years of experience in elementary education. I spent 29 wonderful years as a classroom teacher, teaching Kindergarten through fourth grade.  The last 6 years I have been privileged to share my love of teaching with other teachers. As the reading coach, Kindergarten through third grade teachers and I work together to apply the best practices in teaching children to read.

I have an Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a master's in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist degree in Elementary Administration.
